3)The translator has got it wrong. Utterly wrong in that he has misconstrued the word "contractor" to mean in effect "the person who has signed up to work for a certain business entity for a certain period of time." The Korean version is wrong because then the concept of the contractor so interpreted by the Korean translator is an extension of the concept of employees, that is, logically included in the concept of "employees."


4)In brief, you the translator should know that the word contractor in this case should have another meaning. By its realization alone you will be able to find the right definition of the word contractor. Thus, "contractors" are those who provide goods to Google.

P.S.)I was mistaken in the grasp of the meaning of a contractor. I am sorry for my mistake. Author John Battelle uses the word contractor to mean another employee of Google at Page 216 of the said book. According to the two paragraphs at issue of the same page, Protagonist Case is both a "a contractor" and "an employee" of Google. In other words, Mr. Battelle uses the word to hold the mixed meaning at the same place. I have a modest afterthought that the author should have listed the examples at Page 215 as follows: "Thousands of Google employees (contractors included), their spouses, and competitors began...."
